Colonial View Baptist Church New Sanctuary Dedication Information

The following was discussed and decided at church meeting on August 25, 2004:

  • Dedication In General
    • Tentative program includes a welcome (Bro. Al), prayer (W. Squires), overview (W. Askins), music & special singers (D. Hembree), S. McDonald will intro Bro. Corley, Bro. Al will speak and lead the litany, and the Dedication will be lead by B. Van Beber.
    • Reception will be handled by the kitchen committee, Mrs. Deweese in charge. A three-tier cake (possibly also a sheet cake), punch, mints, nuts, coffee and diet drinks were mentioned. Tables will be set by the decorating committee. Decorations include tablecloths, glass plates, fresh flowers and greenery. Youth will serve at the reception.
    • No evening service on Sept. 26 (the dedication will replace that service).
    • The baptisms have been changed to Sept 12 to keep the dedication shorter.
    • A special offering will be asked for on the first Sunday of September to fund the cost of advertising, etc.
  • Duties aside from those mentioned above
    • Mrs. Pharris will call local inactive members.
    • Mrs. McDonald will place phone calls to former pastors.
    • Saturday before clean-up crew will be headed by Mrs. Conatser; the youth and Mrs. Epps will assist.
    • Mrs. Mayberry will place an ad in the newspaper to invite the local community. Mr. West will help and put information on the internet.
    • Mr. McDonald will call cable channel 7.
    • Mrs. Askins will prepare a special bulletin for the dedication.
    • Deacons will serve as seaters and greeters. Mr. Van Beber in charge.
    • Mr. Sweat in charge of having new parking area finished.
    • Mr. Conatser in charge of traffic; Mr. Mayberry, Mr. Stout and Mr. Stevens will assist.
    • Mrs. Lynch will send out invitations and press info to the Baptist Reflector and Stone Tablet.
    • Mr. Sweat in charge of additional seating.
    • Mrs. Askins in charge of the plaque for the stained glass window donors. It was unanimously decided by the attending members that the plaque will be rosewood with black plating, gold trim and gold letters. The title plate will read,
      "Colonial View Baptist Church September 26, 2004. The stained glass window given in honor of our Lord and to the glory of our Savior, Jesus Christ. In appreciation of the contributors below:"
      A list of donor names was again circulated to check for spelling errors and/or omissions.
    • Mr. Strong in charge of music; "To God Be The Glory" has already been picked.
