Colonial View Baptist Church Doubles Size With New Sanctuary
By MARK WEST
Cookeville, Tenn. -- Colonial View Baptist Church dedicates its new 250-seat sanctuary on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at 2 pm. The public is invited to attend the dedication at the church, located at 1426 West Cemetery Road, Cookeville, Tenn.
The afternoon service includes a litany of dedication and special singing. A reception will follow the service in the old sanctuary.
"We want to invite the public, so that they can see how God has blessed us," said Colonial View's Pastor Al Gaspard.
This is the second new sanctuary in 14 years for the church, this one coming under the leadership of Gaspard. The new construction includes a 2-story stained-glass window, 9 new pews accommodating 10 adults each, 2 additional smaller pews, 2 larger dressing rooms adjoining the baptistery, an enlarged choir area and an enhanced audio system featuring 6 speakers, new audio cables and more available microphones in the 5,400-square-foot sanctuary. It frees up Colonial View's old sanctuary to accommodate growth in the church's Sunday School program. Also added are a new foyer, a youth activity area in the new basement and additional parking spaces behind the church.
"We're very proud of and thankful for all the missionary workers who helped us complete the new sanctuary", said Gaspard.
Missionary workers helping build the new sanctuary have come from Merryville First Baptist Church, Merryville, La.; New Hope Baptist Church of Calcasieu, La.; Bay Springs Baptist Church, Bay Springs, Miss.; Camp Creek Baptist Church, Guntown, Miss.; First Baptist Church of Houston, Miss.; First Baptist Church of Tupelo, Miss.; as well as Cookeville, Nashville and Henderson, Tenn.
